New Practices for Studio Sessions | Morris County NJ Newborn Family Photographer
We are open for business and it feel so good to be back! The Covid-19 pandemic has definitely change things to a “new normal”. Photography is not an essential business so we were closed for close to 3 months but with everything in NJ starting to opening back up, I started to bring to the studio any April/May babies with parents that felt comfortable doing so. I reached out first to my April clients and my first baby was 2 months old. He was the sweetest little guy!
I normally shoot newborn sessions at no later than 14 days of being born. But I think new moms already went through a lot giving birth during these crazy times. Why not at least capture their babies like the dreamed for so long? I took the challenge and it paid off because these babies have been amazing!
Newborn photography, is a style and niche that requires the upmost care and safety. Hygiene and sanitation is always a must, but now we need to be more thorough and implement a few new rules.
Since there is no camp and no babysitting, I can only shoot on weekends so I am booking one studio session per week or at least have 4-5 days between sessions. After cleaning I leave one window open for ventilation. In the past, I had a few clients that would bring grandparents, friends or a nanny to watch siblings or to help with getting a toddler’s attention. Now, only immediate family can come to the session and if there are siblings, is best for them to be removed after we do family pictures or to be brought in at the end of the session.
I will work with your baby wearing a mask at ALL times. Clients also need to arrive with a mask and take off their shoes once they come in. I will wear gloves if parents feel more comfortable with me doing so. Posing a baby with gloves is a little bit harder, so I always ask if they feel comfortable with me just using sanitizer often. All the wraps and fabrics that touches the baby will be removed from the studio to be washed and sanitized. Studio is also cleaned after and before each session as well. Studio is equipped with extra gloves for parents that would like to go through samples or albums.
Lastly, if clients are not comfortable coming to the studio, there is always an option for an outdoor session. These are hard times and with all the uncertainty that is out there, I try to take it day by day. Fortunately for me and for my clients, Lullabies for Josephine Photography is very low volume custom photography studio. We try to create a very personalized experience for each one of our clients and we will talk and discuss about all their questions and concerns before, during and after their session. Each person is different and we want every single one of our clients to feel that their needs are taken care of. Our ultimate goal is for you to have a great experience working with us while capturing precious memories for you and your family.
Lullabies for Josephine Photography is a Newborn, Maternity & Family Boutique Studio serving areas but not limited to Morris County, Passaic County, Bergen County, Essex County and NYC.
